The School of Hospitality Business at proudly celebrated its 85th anniversary year in 2012.

In 1927, the seed was sown for The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University—an industry-specific school within the Broad College of Business that has launched the careers of thousands of leaders in hospitality and service professions and transformed the landscape of hospitality education. Hailed as the original hospitality business school and ranked among the top hospitality programs in the nation, The School celebrates nine decades of attracting the best and the brightest.

THE School Alumni Board member and Chief Motivating Officer of Training for Winners, Gary Hernbroth (BA ’79, center), is joined by Dr. Jeff Beck (back row, far right) and some of the participants in Gary’s sales education event “Kick Up Your Sales Game” for the Ypsilanti Convention & Visitors Bureau. Held at the Ann Arbor Regent Hotel on Friday, November 20, the program drew approximately 30 hotel salespeople and general managers from Washtenaw County. The program included tips on improving sales skills, and also featured a panel of five experienced meeting and event planners within Michigan, who gave “straight-talk” tools and ideas to help the hoteliers kick up their games in sales and service. ...
